This month is, again, a feature of a VRod Muscle. The VRod Muscle has become such a commodity here at Bitchin Seats.
The owner of this great looking bike is Jim Hornaday, a fantastic customer of ours in Arizona. Jim contacted us a while back for his muscle project. He wanted a seat system to work with the saddle bags on his bike. At the time, our VRSCF seats were a side hinge system. Jim was looking to have a seat system that would allow for clearance of the bags when fueling the bike.
After several months of design to accommodate for the Harley Davidson bags, The A frame Hinge System was made and it far exceeded our expectations of capability and style. Not only does this system easily clear your Saddle Bags to access your fuel tank with out any clearance issues of the one piece seat opening. The original idea was for bag clearance but it also makes it easier to fuel the bike (from either side). Along with giving proper clearance for several different sissy bar combinations (OEM and aftermarket), as you can see in the photos, the A Frame hinge articulates and allows the seat to clear at many different angles.
The Seat: This is our Custom Passenger Friendly Wifebeater. This shape is only available as a custom. The passenger friendly VRSCF Wifebeater seat is about an inch thicker in the rear passenger area compared to the low profile Wifebeater . This shape will provide the driver with another inch in back support as well as more cupped into the seat.
The seat is covered in our Buffalo (flat black). Due to the extreme weather conditions in Arizona, we recommended this hide as an upgrade. The full grain American Buffalo breathes more than a sealed/satin finish will dissipate sweat and moisture. This hide is prefect for warm weather riding and in environments with a lot of moisture.
A Frame Hinge: The A Frame can be used on any of our V Rod seats from 2007 - current models. For use with: OEM/Aftermarket Bags - OEM/Aftermarket Sissy Bars.
This is an $100 upgrade and is well worth the charge for the stainless steel dual pin A Frame Hinge System. This hinge has to be mounted during the seat manufacturing process, if you are an existing customer with one of our seats - you can send your seat back to our seat factory for this system to be added for $350.
Sissy Bar Bracket: Jim purchased this aftermarket sissy bar and luggage rack combo from Jardine (Short Billet Universal Backrest and Quick Detach Universal Cruiser Rack, both powder-coated black). We built a new backrest that was more ergonomically correct in conjunction to our seat system (photos shown at the end). In order for us to build a system like this (completely custom) it would be around $2000. So to save money, we created an adapter bracket system that will bolt the sissy bar to the stock HD luggage hardware. It contours and angles around the fender and adapts to the sissy bar/luggage rack. This is a universal luggage rack that needed mounts (which we made). The system we crafted allowed Jim to save money by purchasing a mass manufactured sissy bar luggage system and we would just make the adaptors. These adaptors are $350.
